Skye Wildlife Boat Trip: Neist Point Lighthouse Exploration

Join us on our boat trip of one of the most popular places on Skye,. Experiencing a wonderful trip exploring the wildlife and scenery the west coast of Skye for a longer duration. This tour takes you along the same path as the Maidens trip, through the stunning Loch Bracadale with high cliffs, dramatic scenery and views of the awe inspiring Cuillins. We pass the uninhabited cliff lined islands of Wiay, the seal colony of An Dugb-Sgier, the Macleod Maidens and the lost village of Ramasaig before reaching the magnificent Neist point lighthouse. The surrounding hills of the Waterstein head and the basalt pavement make for great photos. The area is home to a variety of sea birds, wildlife and some great local history! Along the way we should encounter plenty of wildlife and some wonderful sights onboard our comfortable boat. We encounter the most wildlife on this trip due to the extra hour and the amount of distance we cover. This trip covers around 40 nautical miles over the three and a half hours. This trip is subject to weather more so than the Maidens due to its location so is only bookable a week in advance.

Our interactions with wildlife on the trip are often plentiful, with the diverse ecology of Skye and the west coast of Scotland. We often see Minke Whales, Dolphins, Porpoises and even have sightings of leather back turtles! On occasion we have witnessed the west coast pod of Orcas! Our usual resident sea birds of Sea Eagles, Golden Eagles all breed in the area and we have two colonies of seals. With both common and grey seals in the area. Other wonderful wildlife we have depending on the time of year are: Fulmars, Gannets, Great Skua’s, Cormorants, Atlantic Puffins and even Baskin Sharks.

Please remember that we are in a wild environment and can’t guarantee all of the wildlife mentioned on a single boat trip
